Alternative Foundations: The use of amphibious equipment and a helical foundation solution helped to address site constraints in South Jersey

Alternative Foundations: The use of amphibious equipment and a helical foundation solution helped to address site constraints in South Jersey

To facilitate the constructability of the foundations, Aldridge retained Magnum Piering to provide engineering and foundation material manufacturing. Aldridge and Magnum worked together to design the foundations for the site constraints and capabilities of the equipment used in the installation. Two examples of this were limiting the installation equipment based on the size of the excavator that could be placed on the amphibious tracks and using steel to connect the piles to the structure, to avoid transporting concrete across the channel.

I-74 Mississippi River Bridge Opening

I-74 Mississippi River Bridge Opening

The I-74 Mississippi River Bridge officially opened for eastbound traffic yesterday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Aldridge’s scope of work included streetlights, LED architectural fixtures, miles of suspended conduit under the bridge for future expansion, a network of power necessary to ventilate and illuminate the arches, and electronic sensor equipment to constantly monitor the structural health of the bridge. Aldridge planned and executed an innovative approach to the work by installing conduit within the arches prior to delivery on-site. Leveraging prefabrication in an off-site location helped streamline efficiencies and provided a safer work environment by decreasing work time spent over the river.

Technology-Enabled Workflow Drives Data Center Construction Efficiency

Technology-Enabled Workflow Drives Data Center Construction Efficiency

At Aldridge, collaboration begins early. The BIM team’s background is critical to understanding the sequencing of work, identifying prefabrication opportunities and developing a bill of materials to use on bulk material purchases. To facilitate the process, the BIM team modeled the entire data center site in 3D to facilitate subsequent design reviews and clash detection with project partners, and to maximize prefabrication opportunities.

Bridges To Prosperity 2022

Bridges To Prosperity 2022

In 2017, Aldridge partnered with Bridges to Prosperity to provide isolated communities with access to essential health care, education, and economic opportunities by building footbridges over impassable rivers. Unfortunately, our 2020 build was postponed due to COVID-19, but we are pleased to announce that we will send a team of ten employees to Rwanda in February of 2022!

Team Aldridge will build a 57-Meter bridge in Muhanga, Rwanda. This bridge will directly serve 2,764 individuals, allowing access to markets, a medical center, schools, and other sources of employment that are otherwise nearly inaccessible to the community for over 90 days a year.
