When drilling large-diameter shafts in rock, drilling and hammering the complete diameter of the shaft in one shot requires extremely large tooling and support equipment. Moving all of this equipment and tooling from shaft to shaft is not ergonomic, time-consuming, and limits the crew's productivity.
Our team of innovators developed a solution to this problem by engineering an adjustable roller opener. This tool allows drilling up to 15’ diameter shafts using the same equipment and tooling required to support a conventionally drilled shaft. By leveraging this innovation on site, crews gain the following benefits:
• Increased productivity with less to move from shaft to shaft
• Less fuel consumption and cost by reducing the number
of compressors required
• Reduced exposure to exposures, including high CFM
compressor hoses and ability
• Ability to use owned equipment in lieu of rental pieces.
Nothing boring about that!
