Mass Transit Lighting Upgrades - Washington DC

Transportation | Transit & Rail  | Washington DC

Project Summary

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority project includes the installation of 48,000 feet of wire, 17,520 feet of conduit, and 1,152 new light fixtures, all within tight schedule constraints. With track access limited to a 54-hour window, precise logistics are crucial to ensure seamless installation.

To streamline the process, the project team utilized 12-foot assemblies in collaboration with PreFab, significantly reducing on-site hours and enhancing safety. An innovative rail material cart efficiently lifted the heavy stainless steel assemblies into place beneath the 4-foot tunnel platform.

Carefully packed trailers ensured smooth material transport, efficient setup, and maximized track access. Continuous collaboration with trade partners and the project owner facilitated the smooth integration of all components.

The upgraded LED edge lighting system enhances safety, offering a better commuting experience for all.
