New Runway NAVAIDS Infrastructure - Illinois
Government & Defense | Airport | Transportation | Illinois
Project Summary
Aldridge was selected to construct key NAVAIDS (Navigational Aids) facilities for a new runway at a major airport. The project included the installation of ALSF (Approach Lighting System with Sequenced Flashing Lights) shelters, Glide Slope (GS) shelters, localizer arrays, runway visual range (RVR) equipment racks, and PAPI (Precision Approach Path Indicator) equipment racks and light fixture arrays.
Acting as the General Contractor, Aldridge self-performed much of the work, including the construction of shelter foundations, slab-on-grade, wood framing, roofing, metal siding, and the erection of antenna towers. Our team of skilled carpenters, laborers, ironworkers, and electricians collaborated to deliver these essential components with precision and efficiency.
One of the primary challenges was coordinating the FAA’s design requirements with the ongoing airport development projects. Leveraging our extensive experience at this airport, Aldridge proactively identified and resolved design discrepancies, ensuring smooth integration and successful project completion.
