Fiber Optic Install - Indiana

Power | Distribution | Fiber Optic | Indiana

Project Summary

Aldridge was contracted to install appx. 25,000 feet of fiber optic cable from Munster substation to Highland substation. The existing shield wire was removed and replaced with OPGW tri-core fiber. The scope also included covering the sagging and setting of the cable, clamping at monopole splice locations, and loops for future splicing.

A helicopter was used to assist in the removal and installation of the new fiber cable. The work plan included the use of a helicopter to unclip the existing static wires on the transmission towers and then clip in the new fiber.
