Ken Aldridge Leads National Construction Safety Week

Aldridge Chairman of the Board, Ken Aldridge was honored to serve as this year’s national chairman for Construction Safety Week. Having been involved in this national movement for the last 7 years, Aldridge was excited to take on the opportunity for the first time ever to host.

Alongside participating in the duration of the week, we hosted a Signature Event at our newest office location in Des Plaines, Illinois, inviting hundreds of industry leaders and professionals to join in the discussion of remaining connected, supported, and safe throughout the industry.

Over 100 job sites and offices across the country paused each day to talk about safety. Here are some highlights from the week:

  • To kick off the week, Aldridge hosted a premier signature event at the new Des Plaines office for industry leaders and professionals. Ken Aldridge welcomed esteemed guest speakers, alongside Alex and Steve Aldridge as they walked us through our 70 years of being connected, supported, and safe.

  • Executives and senior leaders visited project sites across the country to personally thank crews for their hard work and dedication to keep themselves and everyone around them safe.

  • COO Brian Mazzei showcased our Kansas drilling program with a virtual job site tour that offered on-site interviews and a glimpse of the rural farmland project site.

  • Utility Training Manager Bill Sullivan gave us a tour of the enclosed space and utility training trailers. He demonstrated his life-saving non-entry rescue method he developed with the use of a rescue pole we have dubbed the "Sully Stick."

  • Mental health continues to be an important topic that we must discuss on a regular basis. Vice President Lynn Meersman shared a powerful TED talk that prompted an emotionally charged discussion. Aldridge is continuously working to reach everyone in meaningful ways throughout the year.

  • At various project sites across the country, former Kiewit tree faller Steve Howe shared his powerful story of how he survived a career-altering event after being struck by an excavator.

  • At job sites and offices across the country, various vendors and supplies came out to showcase their latest innovations and tools to help make Aldridge’s work safer. These demonstrations afforded education on topics such as rescue from a bucket truck, proper rigging, overhead crane use, downhole safety, equipment movement area awareness and visibility, and a mock 911 drill.
