Solar Farm Development - Illinois
Solar | Renewable Energy | Illinois
Project Summary
Aldridge is leading the transformation of a 200-acre capped landfill into a high-efficiency solar farm, marking a significant advancement in sustainable energy. This ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) project is designed to power multiple county facilities, effectively utilizing the available space to maximize energy output.
Aldridge’s scope includes the full mechanical and electrical installation of the solar PV system. Mechanically, this involves constructing fixed solar arrays on a concrete ballast foundation, a design that ensures stability and longevity on challenging terrain. To enhance safety and efficiency, Aldridge utilized an Ozzy Modlifter machine for solar panel installations. This specialized equipment allows for the precise and secure placement of panels, reducing manual handling and supporting a safer, streamlined setup process.
The electrical scope covers comprehensive medium-voltage installations, both overhead and underground, as well as the complete AC system setup, including switchboards, transformers, and associated equipment. Additionally, the DC collection system has been installed with inverters, combiner boxes, and string wiring to ensure efficient energy capture and distribution.
By repurposing a landfill site for renewable energy production, this solar project demonstrates Aldridge’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, supporting local infrastructure with clean, renewable power for years to come.
