Aldridge was selected as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Contractor to execute a turnkey 345kV collector substation at a solar farm in Virden, Illinois. The interconnect substation feeds 800 MW of solar-generated clean power to the grid. Leading the design and construction of the substation, our comprehensive scope included the erection of steel structures, installation of switches, and 345 breakers

The facility is a critical greenfield project expected to become the largest solar farm in Illinois, contributing significantly to the region’s sustainable energy infrastructure. The project aligns with the broader objectives of the state, aimed at achieving 100% renewable electricity usage in city buildings by 2025. Aldridge’s involvement underscores our commitment to supporting the development of clean energy solutions and contributing to a more sustainable energy landscape.
