For nearly 30 years, Aldridge has opened its doors to aspiring young professionals interested in the construction industry. Last week, 31 college students joined the Aldridge family for the summer at offices and job sites across the country. To ensure that they receive the best experience, each intern is assigned a mentor to shadow for the summer.
While our program may look a little different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Aldridge has adapted a “can't-hold-us-back” mindset that has provided a learning experience on how to quickly adapt and overcome obstacles. One example of this was providing virtual job site tours during onboarding rather than the traditional job site visit. Additionally, we have taken numerous precautions to ensure that our interns and employees alike feel comfortable and safe while working in the office, on a job-site, or from home.
From over 200 applicants, we selected 7 returning interns and 24 new, making this group the largest class in Aldridge history. We are proud to support the Women in Construction movement and are happy to report that more than 25% of our interns are female. These passionate college students represent 24 different universities from all over the country.
