The Board of Directors officially announced Aldridge as a winner of the 2015 Project of the Year Award –Chicago/Suburbs New Construction for our work on Maggie Daley Park.
This new “dynamic, sustainable, multi-functional” park spans approximately 20 acres, resulting from the transformation of the past Daley Bicentennial Plaza into a single continuous public landscape joining Millenium Park on the Chicago lakefront. For the project, Aldridge installed over 375 decorative fixtures, 160 light poles, 13 massive 50’ tripod light masts, and wireless connectivity to synchronize the lighting package.
The construction of the Maggie Daley Park proved challenging, yet exciting. With the park constructed on top of an existing parking garage, site accessibility required innovative planning and detailed scheduling. To achieve the “hill and valley” grades, Geo-Foam was installed as the base layer for the landscape. The Geo-Foam restricted access during the construction process and required the use of specialty designed vehicles for various construction advancements and installations.
Aldridge is proud to be such an important part of the project and honored to accept Cisco’s award recognizing the work.
