Open Road Tolling

Aldridge was a part of the team for the fast track completion of the express lane, Open Road Tolling (ORT) systems at the Eden's spur ramp, Army Trail Road, and Boughton Road toll plazas. Scope of work included the installation of all electrical distribution, fiber optic transmitting and receiving equipment, IDRIS detection systems, and fixed and point-tilt-zoom cameras. The project required over 12 miles of cable and nearly four miles of conduit.

Part of a state-wide effort to combat highway traffic congestion, the ORT system allows ISTHA to bill highway users via in-vehicle transmitters that send account information to the overhead antennas as they pass under the mono-tube structures. The cameras, loops, and antennas all work together to provide a complete log and means of enforcing customer toll violations.
