Terminal to Populus

Extending from Southeast Idaho into Northern Utah, the 134 mile, 345 kV Populus-Terminal transmission line project delivers more than 1 billion kW hours of renewable electricity every year. The scope included more than 80,000 cubic yards of concrete for 722 foundations ranging in diameter from 2 feet to 14 feet with depths of 20 feet to 120 feet. The soil conditions ranged from wet and non-cohesive to granular with rock. The mobilization of the large drill rigs and support equipment through wetlands, residential areas and mountainous terrain required comprehensive planning.
